Background:

I am a full member of the Mountaineering Leader Training Association(MLTA), which is the national governing body for mountain leaders and Member of the Chartered Management Institute (MCMI) with 23 year Business experience

I have 29 years experience of mountaineering which includes rock, ice, alpine climbing, hill walking, camping, ski-ing and cycling.  I have organised hillwalking, walking holidays, rock climbing courses and outdoor activities for 12 years. Including instructed  navigation, Duke of Edinburgh Award & charity events, for example, I took part in an event raising £12,000 for Capability Scotland by climbing Mt Toubkal in Morocco.  I am also an active member of the Scottish Mountaineering Club (SMC) and Austrian Alpine Club (AAC).

From 2001 to 2004, I was on the Mountaineering Council of Scotland (MCofS) Executive Committee and was the  representative to the British Mountaineering Council (BMC).  During this time I set up and operated a youth development workshop teaching outdoor rock climbing.  This included planning, implementing and operating in various locations around Scotland, in accordance with the AALA guidelines.  This included risk assessments, vetting of youth workers and running activity sessions.  This activity still runs along the guidelines that I developed.
